Leslie Marmon Silko

Leslie Marmon Silko was born in Albuquerque in 1948 of mixed Laguna Pueblo, Mexican, and white ancestry. She grew up in the Laguna Pueblo Reservation. Her novels include Ceremony, which has sold over one million copies since its publication in 1978. She has also written many short stories, poems, and essays. The recipient of numerous grants and awards, including a MacArthur Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship, she lives in Tucson, Arizona.
